Georgina Greenheld
Georgina qualified and joined the firm in 1981.  She became a partner in 1986.  She heads the Family Law department specialising in all areas of family law with a particular expertise in financial applications and cases involving substantial assets and family businesses.  She is a member of the Solicitors Family Law Association.

Mark Hutchinson
Mark joined the firm in 1990 having read law at Oxford and worked in both London and Leeds.  He became a partner in 1992 and is head of the Estate Planning Department and the firm’s Managing Partner.  He specialises in trusts, inheritance tax planning and estate planning and has been a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) since 1995.

Roger Dooley
Roger joined Kirbys in 1990 from Walker Morris and became a partner in 1993. He heads the Property department and specialises in commercial transactions.

Jonathan Robertshaw
Jonathan heads the Litigation and Commercial departments and handles all types of general and commercial litigation disputes, contentious and non-contentious employment law and insolvency.  He qualified in 1993, joined the firm in December 2001 and became a partner in 2004.

Alison Gray
Alison is a partner in the Family Law department.  She is experienced in all aspects of family law including divorce, separation, cohabitation, pre-nuptial agreements and child related issues.  Alison is a member of Resolution and the Family Law Accreditation Scheme.  She qualified in 1995 and joined the firm in 1999.

Jeremy Holroyd

Jeremy qualified in 1971 and joined Atkinson McCall in 1976 where he has been involved with the aspects of a North Yorkshire based general practice. With the merger this year he joins Kirbys as a partner dealing with property and private client work including all related financial transactions and particularly agricultural property.

Stuart Berry

Qualified as a solicitor in 1972 and joined Atkinson McCall in 1974. Stuart has broad experience in civil litigation and family law over many years as a partner of Atkinson McCall. He joined Kirbys following the amalgamation of the two firms in 2009. Stuart is a Family Law Panel member, a Solicitors Family Law Association, now Resolution member, and a Deputy District Judge – Civil Jurisdiction.

Karen Thompson
Karen qualified in 1999 and joined Kirbys in January 2003.  She became an Associate in 2008.  Karen is involved in all aspects of probate, wills and estate planning as well as specialising in advice to the elderly.  Karen also deals with trusts administration, Court of Protection work and Lasting Powers of Attorney.  A member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) since 2003, Karen is a member of the Older Person’s Reference Group in the Harrogate area.

Elizabeth Balmforth
Elizabeth qualified in 1996 having previously worked for Leeds firms, Booth & Co and Morrish & Co. and joined the firm’s Property department in December 2006.  She specialises in all aspects of residential and commercial property work, both freehold and leasehold.

Shakeela Bi
Shakeela graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2003 and trained at Mewies solicitors in Skipton where she qualified as a Family Solicitor in March 2007.  Shakeela joined Kirbys in June 2007 and undertakes all aspects of divorce and family work.

Ellis Chapman
Ellis qualified in 2002 and joined the Estate Planning department in May 2007.  He specialises in advising the elderly, wills, probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection matters.  He is a student member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Carolyn Greenwood
Following many years working in Harrogate, Carolyn initially qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and subsequently as a solicitor in 1998. Having worked at Brooke North llp in Leeds Carolyn returned to Harrogate and joined Kirbys in July 2007, where she specialises in freehold and leasehold residential property.

David Harland

Practice Director, joined Kirbys in September 2008 with over twenty years experience of management with city law firms, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Accounts Managers. David’s role is to ensure that the firm remains true to the traditional core values of honesty and integrity, whilst evolving to meet the challenges posed by today’s changing society.
